STAFF SPOTLIGHT: MARK VETTER

(February 27, 2025) Mark Vetter is one of our newest Project Managers, having joined Storage Construction in September of this 2024.

In this role, Mark schedules subcontractor and owner meetings, monitors the master schedule of projects, and logs and distributes submissions & RFIs.  He also works with project superintendents on quality control, and maintains oversight of project expenses & budgets.

We asked Mark a few questions about himself and his background:

SC: What brought you to the construction field?

MV: My love to build and to see a bare piece of land transform through all its stages into something unique, whether it be a storage facility, hotel, multi-family home, retail mall, or something else.

Although this appreciation for the process was what brought me into the construction field — and kept me here for more than 20 years — there are many other reasons.  One of my other inspirations is the relationships I form.  Whether it be with owners, developers, superintendents, office and administrative staff, and others, I have realized that the building process may be just 1-5 years in duration, the relationships that I have established continue to grow.

SC: What are some fun or surprising facts that people may not know about you?

MV: Here are two:

First, I began my college career as a Pre-Vet major, but with playing football and thinking I was going to be the next big thing in the NFL, I missed the “grade cut” for vet school, and switched my major to Civil and Construction Engineering which is the degree I graduated with.

Next, I raise purebred Simmental cattle, something I have been doing since I was a child. My children now show them at various fairs and events as I did when I was their age.

SC: What’s the strangest food you’ve eaten and would you eat it again?

MV: Fried Squirrel brains. Growing up outdoors, always hunting and fishing, this was somewhat normal with the old timers I surrounded myself with  — but even to this day I find it strange. Would I eat it again? Yes. Although I have managed not to for more than 20 years.
